The text and data mining exception is a mechanism inspired by the teaching exception. Its introduction into European law by the DAMUN Directive is a manifestation of the legislator's desire to be competitive and its objective of popularising the science. However, many questions are raised by this exception which sometimes takes on the appearance of a prerogative.
