With the development of the digital technologies and of the uses of contents in a mobility situation, the traditional conception of the territoriality of copyright and neighbouring rights is gradually being challenged by new provisions arising from audiovisual communication law and competition law. Some measures are thus aimed at promoting the circulation of audiovisual contents in Europe, by limiting territorial exclusivities granted by copyright owners or by promoting the portability of contents. At the same time, the Community authorities are adopting other measures to regulate the new forms of cross-border circulation of audiovisual contents in Europe.
