Graeme W. Austin is Chair of Private Law at Victoria University of Wellington and Professor of Law at Melbourne University. He holds a doctorate in laws from Columbia University (NY). Prior to returning to Australasia, he was the J. Byron McCormick Professor of Law at the University of Arizona, where he directed the intellectual property programmes. He is an elected member of the American Law Institute and has served as a Member of the New Zealand Copyright Tribunal. He is an independent director of the Australian Copyright Council. His books include Human Rights and Intellectual Property: Mapping the Global Interface (Cambridge), co-authored with Laurence R. Helfer.
